Assemblies of God,Ghana has ended its maiden Mid-Year National Prayer Chain and Fasting. A special prayer chain was also observed during the same period in Yendi-the birth place of the church. The national prayer event was on the theme, “Lord, Let There Be Supernatural Breakthroughs” based on Joel 2:17. The prayer was held from Monday, July 7th and ended on Sunday, 13th July 2025.
This initiative was in line with the National Theme for the year, “Pray Without Ceasing” (1 Thessalonians 5:17). The church sought to invite the presence of God for divine intervention, renewed strength, and opened doors in the second half of the year.
Spiritual significance
This period of consecration served as a time for the entire Assemblies of God body thus pastors, members, departments, and leaders—to pause, reflect, seek God's face, and intercede for supernatural breakthroughs in their personal lives, ministries, families, and the nation at large.
To ensure the effectiveness of the prayer chain, a well-organised schedule of daily activities was outlined, which included Morning and Evening prayers, Daily Prayer Points focusing on revival, supernatural encounters, national peace, family restoration, and church growth among others.
Yendi prayers
In Yendi, where the first Assembly of God is located, the church observed a total of 27 Hours of prayer chain(1 full day and 3 hours) under the auspices of the General Council in collaboration with Northern Region “B”. The prayers were held on Thursday 10th July( from 7pm to 10pm), and at 6:00am on Friday 11th July to 6:00am on Saturday 12th July.
Team of Pastors
A Team of 19 pastors and prayer warriors from other regions led by Rev Bawa Awudu visited Yendi to facilitate this event. They were joined by prayer warriors and teeming members from Northern Region “B”.It was supervised by the Regional Superintendent,Rev Yeboah.
The purpose was to offer prayers to God at the birth place and starting point of Assemblies of God,Ghana so as to strategically influence the destiny and future of the church as the church’s centennial celebration approaches in the year 2031.
Prayers offered covered areas like thanksgiving and intense worship, repentance and rededication, prophetic and faith declarations as well as spiritual warfare and intercession.
Furthermore, the visiting prayer team went to the graves of the early missionaries(Buchwalter and Guy Hickok) in that town to thank God for their lives and the over 100 foreign missionaries who served in the country laying a rock solid foundation for Assemblies of God,Ghana.
This event was unprecedented in the 94 years history of the church.
