The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, embarked on a pastoral visit to some regions across the country to officiate the 2025 Ordination Services of ministers into different ranks of ministry.
The ordination ceremonies, which were held between February 19 to 22, 2025, took place in the Central Region, Ashanti North Region, and Ashanti West Region as part of the church’s annual Regional Council meetings.
Ordination Service
The Central Region ordination service was held at the Saltpond Campus of Assemblies of God Theological and Missions Seminary, with the General Superintendent, Rev. Wengam, serving as the officiating minister. He was assisted by the Central Regional Superintendent, Rev. Bismark Moore.
During the ceremony, Licentiate ministers were promoted to Ordained Ministers, Exhorters upgraded to Licentiate Ministers, while Probationers advanced to the Exhorter rank.
Ashanti North Region
In the Ashanti North Region, the ordination service took place at the Assemblies of God International Church in Kumasi during the Regional Council meeting. The service was officiated by Rev. Wengam, assisted by the Regional Superintendent, Rev. George Ampofo.
The oath of office was administered by Her Ladyship Justice Mrs. Priscilla Mireku, a High Court Judge and a pastor’s wife.
Once again, ministers were promoted across the various ranks, affirming their commitment to serve the church and God’s people.
Ashanti West Region
In the Ashanti West Region, the 2025 Ordination Service was held at Grace Assemblies of God, Kwadaso, Kumasi, during the Regional Council meeting.
Rev. Wengam, who served as both the officiating minister and preacher, delivered a sermon titled “The Awesome Deeds of Prayer”, consistent with the church's 2025 theme — “Pray Without Ceasing” for Supernatural Manifestations based on (1 Thessalonians 5:17).
The Regional Superintendent, Rev. Augustine Bempah, assisted in officiating the ceremony, while the oath of office was administered by Her Honour Lawrencia Gyamfi, a Circuit Court Judge.
Ministers were upgraded across the various ranks, with Rev. Wengam charging them to be true representatives of Christ in word and deed.
Ashanti East Region
In the Ashanti East Region thirty-two pastors of Assemblies of God, Ghana have been elevated to the rank of ordained minister during an ordination service at the Living Waters Chapel of the church in Kumasi.
An ordained minister is the highest ministerial ranking of the church. Others were elevated to the ranks of Exhorter and Licentiate respectively.
The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam officiated the service. He was assisted by the Regional Superintendent, Rev. Dr Emmanuel Gyasi.
Charge to Ministers
In all the services, Rev. Wengam urged the newly ordained ministers to uphold holiness, integrity, and servant leadership in their pastoral duties. He reminded them of their calling to win souls, serve with humility, and advance the kingdom of God.
"As ministers of the gospel, you are called to be the light of the world. Let your conduct, speech, and service reflect the love of Christ," he charged.
Ordination Services significance
The 2025 Ordination Services underscored the Assemblies of God,Ghana’s commitment to equipping ministers to serve with excellence and devotion. With the theme “Pray Without Ceasing” guiding the year’s activities, the newly ordained ministers are expected to lead their congregations in fervent prayer, evangelism, and holistic ministry.
