The Ghana Centre for Democratic Development (CDD-Ghana) has extended its congratulations to Professor Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang on her historic election as Vice President of the Republic of Ghana.
This landmark achievement makes her the first woman to hold this high office in the country.
In a letter dated December 30, 2024, addressed to the Vice President-elect, CDD-Ghana expressed its pride and admiration for Prof. Opoku-Agyemang, highlighting her long-standing contributions to the organisation and the nation.
The Centre recalled with “exceptional pride” her tenure as a member of its Governing Board from its inception in 1998 until her appointment as Minister for Education in 2013.
Advocacy
The congratulatory message emphasised the Centre’s hope that as Vice President, Prof. Opoku-Agyemang would continue to advocate for values central to CDD-Ghana's mission and vital to Ghana’s development.
These include promoting transparent and accountable governance, ensuring integrity in public life, and fostering inclusive social and economic development.
The Centre wished the Vice President-elect good health and success in her new role, expressing confidence in her ability to serve the nation effectively.
Prof. Jane Naana Opoku-Agyemang’s election marks a significant milestone in Ghana’s political history and a step forward for gender representation in leadership.
