The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam, has called on stakeholders in the electoral process to ensure peaceful conduct of the December 7 election.
He equally entreated the clergy to offer prayers for peace to prevail in the nation before, during and after the election.
Rev Wengam made the call at the church's General Council meeting recently held in Navrongo in the Kassena-Nankana Municipality in the Upper East Region.
Rev Wengam further acknowledged the church’s growth and observed that it now boasts of 715,000 members with over 7,500 churches nationwide since its establishment in 1931.
He explained that the church has significant influence in national leadership adding that its activities over the years has resulted in making an impact on the lives of Ghanaians in sectors such as education, healthcare, and livelihood empowerment. This he noted was achieved through the activities of its Non-Governmental Organisation, AG Care.
Centenary project
The General Superintendent further announced plans to roll out the Centenary City Project, which includes plans for an International Convention Centre to mark 100 years of the Assemblies of God in Ghana.
He equally announced that Ghana will host the 2026 World Assemblies of God Fellowship Congress in Accra.
