Assemblies of God, Ghana has observed its annual Youth Day celebration under the theme “Pray Without Ceasing for Spiritual Manifestations” drawn from 1 Thessalonians 5:17-19.
The nationwide celebration saw young people across all districts and local churches actively participating in special services, drama, song ministrations, and exhortations centred on the role of prayer and spiritual growth among the youth.
Foresight, appreciation
In a heartfelt address to mark the occasion, the National Youth Director, Rev. Henry Kyei Mensah, praised the foresight of the church’s founding leaders for establishing vibrant departments, including the Youth Ministry, which has contributed significantly to the growth and development of the church for decades.
“It is indeed an indisputable fact that the leadership of our church made a memorable move by establishing departments that have been very instrumental in the growth of our organisation,” Rev. Mensah stated.
He extended appreciation to the leadership of the church from the national to the local levels, thanking them for their continuous support through prayers, finances, guidance, and mentorship. The National Director also lauded the Women and Men’s Ministries, parents, deacons, and especially the youth for their commitment and energy in advancing the work of God.
Reflection
According to Rev. Mensah, the Youth Day celebration is a time of reflection acknowledging God’s goodness in the lives of young people, celebrating their testimonies, and recognising their contributions to the church and society. He emphasised that it is also a day to give the youth a platform to minister and manifest their God-given gifts.
He further stressed the importance of the church’s corporate theme, highlighting prayer as the key to unlocking spiritual and physical growth.
“Persistent prayer will result in perpetual promotion in all areas of our lives. The vision of the church will be fulfilled when we have a praying church with the youth fully involved,” he said.
Rev. Mensah also encouraged young people to be responsible and to support their pastors and churches. They should also honour their parents, take their education and career seriously, and learning new skills to remain relevant and financially independent in today’s changing world.
Events
He reminded congregants of two key upcoming events: the 65th Anniversary of the Youth Ministry in 2026 and the forthcoming youth camp meetings set to begin next month.
“Let us pray, prepare, and participate in these programmes. Pastors and parents, as you have supported us over the years, we trust you will keep supporting us,” he appealed.
He concluded with a call on stakeholders to help raise Spirit-filled youth who will bring transformation to the church and the nation at large.
