The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam, has successfully concluded a grand and historic Easter Convention with the Ghanaian Assemblies of God community in Toronto, Canada.
The Easter Convention, which drew members of the Ghanaian diaspora and church leaders from across Canada, was marked by spirit-filled services, leadership development, and a renewed call to evangelistic mission.
Easter message
On Easter Sunday, Rev. Wengam who is also the Vice Chairman of the Africa Assemblies of God Alliance, delivered a powerful sermon titled, “Pursuing the Forgotten Mission of Easter – Fulfilling the Sending Mission of God.” In his message, he emphasised that the true essence of Easter extends beyond celebration, calling on Christians to give deeper meaning to the resurrection of Christ by actively engaging in soul-winning and aggressive church planting.
“The resurrection should propel us into action for the Kingdom, before the second return of Christ, we must hasten the mission of God on earth,” Rev. Wengam said.
His message resonated deeply with congregants, as he called for a renewed focus on the church’s missional mandate and challenged believers to embrace Easter as a call to evangelism and discipleship.
Honouring service
During the Easter service, Rev. Wengam, on behalf of Assemblies of God, Ghana and his family, presented thoughtful gifts to pastors and their spouses as a gesture of appreciation for their service and dedication.
In response, the Chairman of Ghana-Canada Assemblies of God Fellowship,Rev. Milton Offei, presented Plaques of Honour to Rev. Wengam and to Rev. David Wells, General Superintendent of the Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada, in recognition of their selfless contribution to the growth of the Assemblies of God churches in both Ghana and Canada.
Leadership engagement
Ahead of the Easter Sunday celebration, Rev. Wengam held a special leaders’ meeting with Ghanaian Assemblies of God pastors and church leaders based in Canada. During this strategic session, he delivered an insightful lecture on “Impactful Leadership.”
Rev. Wengam encouraged leaders to prioritise legacy in ministry, serve with integrity and loyalty to the church, be dedicated to their calling and continuously invest in their spiritual and personal development.
Closing,appreciation
The Genrl Superintendent of Pentecostal Assemblies of Canada and Special Guest of Honour at the event, Rev. David Wells, commended the vibrant missions-driven efforts of the Ghanaian Assemblies of God Fellowship in Canada.
Rev. Milton Offei, Chairman of the Fellowship, expressed appreciation to Rev. Wengam for his impactful visit and for strengthening the bond between the mother church in Ghana and the growing Assemblies of God community in Canada.
