Renowned American pastors, Sarah Jakes Roberts and her husband Touré Roberts,have begun a familiarisation visit to Ghana.
As part of the visit, Pastor Touré Roberts yesterday led a delegation to pay a courtesy call on the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God,Ghana, Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam at the church's head office in Accra.
The visit to the General Superintendent was to among other objectives, brief him on the delegation’s itinerary while in Ghana, seek spiritual covering and prayer support.
The Roberts are currently pastoring The Potter’s House, a non-denominational American megachurch in Dallas, Texas, United States of America.
Welcome
Welcoming the esteemed guests, Rev. Wengam shared a brief yet insightful history of Assemblies of God, Ghana, highlighting the denomination’s spiritual heritage and ongoing work across the country.
He also outlined the church's preparations towards its centenary celebration, which is just six years away.
The General Superintendent emphasised the urgent need for the church to reposition and rebrand in order to reach more people with the gospel, especially in the northern and southern zones of Ghana, where some communities still lack access to churches and trained pastors.
“We cannot afford for any soul to perish simply because there is no one there to preach hence Assemblies of God is actively constructing church buildings in underserved communities", he said.
Response
In response, Pastor Touré Roberts expressed deep appreciation for the work being done by Assemblies of God, Ghana.
He stressed that he was inspired by the church’s vision, leadership, and community efforts and pledged to support the mission and expansion goals of the denomination.
Presentation and Prayer
As part of the visit, Rev. Wengam made special presentations to the delegation as a token of appreciation and fellowship.
The meeting concluded with a time of prayer for God's guidance, protection, and fruitfulness over the General Superintendent, the Roberts’ ministry and their activities in Ghana.
Background
The Potter's House megachurch was founded and formerly pastored by Bishop Thomas Dexter Jakes Sr.(T.D. Jakes), an American non-denominational Christian evangelical pastor and motivational speaker. As a prolific author and fim producer, Bishop Jakes has written numerous books and produced various films.
Bishop TD Jakes is married to Serita Ann Jamison. Serita, often referred to as the "First Lady of The Potter's House, has played a significant role in the ministry's growth. She is a speaker, author, and spiritual mentor.
The couple has five children thus Sarah, Cora, Jermaine, Thomas Jr. and Jamar.
Sarah Jakes Roberts, T.D. Jakes’ daughter, is an author and a preacher born on July 17,1988.
