The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Yenusom Wengam has urged pastors and congregants to return to the original call of the Church as a house of prayer, rather than reducing it to mere performance or business.
According to him, the primary purpose of every church building is to serve as a sacred place where believers commune with God through prayer, worship, and the Word.
Dedication ceremony
The General Superintendent stated this during the dedication of the newly constructed Temple of Unity Assemblies of God at Tikese in Kumasi. The ceremony brought together pastors, dignitaries, church members, and the general public.
Rev. Wengam was joined by the Regional Superintendent of the Ashanti West Region, Rev. Augustine Bempah, who supported the dedication rites and offered blessings on the church’s future ministry.
Delivering a sermon titled “Making God’s House an Altar of Prayer,” based on Matthew 21:12–17, Rev. Wengam emphasised the sacred purpose of the church as a place of spiritual connection, reverance, and divine encounter.
Commendation
He further commended the Senior Pastor, Rev. Acheampong, and the church's leadership for their vision, commitment, and sacrificial efforts that led to the successful completion of the magnificent temple.
