The Ghana Water Company has cautioned residents of Weija and its environs that spillage of excess water from the Weija Dam has started.
A statement signed by the Regional Chief Manager of the Ghana Water Company, Chales Tulashie, stated that the spillage of the Weija Dam has become necessary because the dam is gradually experiencing a rise in its water level because of the recent rains.
Structural integrity
The statement said failure to commence an immediate controlled spillage may result in compromising the structural integrity of the dam, which in turn may pose a significant risk to lives and properties.
The Regional Chief Manager also emphasised that the spillage would continue as long as the level of water in the dam keeps rising.
The Ghana Water company further expressed apologies for any inconvenience caused.
