The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam has consistently emphasised the central role of prayer in the life of every believer and the growth of the church.
In his recent addresses and apostolic visits, he has repeatedly underscored that prayer was not merely a spiritual discipline, but the very lifeline of Christian living and ministry.
Church must transform
According to Rev. Wengam, every local church must transform into an “altar of prayer” a sacred space where believers meet God, intercede for others, receive divine instruction, and witness the supernatural move of the Holy Spirit.
At the Central Assemblies of God, The Father's House, Koforidua, ministers and their spouses, retirees and widows of deceased pastors gathered for a time of renewal and divine impartation.
The visit was a clarion call to persistent prayer and spiritual vigilance in ministry centered on the 2025 national theme, “Pray Without Ceasing” based on 1 Thessalonians 5:17.
The Visit
Rev. Wengam further underscored the importance of unceasing prayer in the life of every minister. He led a four-hour intense prayer session where the congregation interceded for revival in the nation, support for distressed pastors in deprived areas, and the advancement of local church initiatives as well as marriage vow renewal ceremonies, where couples rededicated their lives and marriages to God and one another.
Lady Mrs Monica Wengam extended heartfelt compassion to widows of deceased ministers and wives of retirees by presenting each with cash gifts and gift cloths.
Rev. Dr. Albert Anane, Regional Superintendent of Eastern Region ‘A’, expressed heartfelt appreciation to the visiting couple, commending their dedication, spiritual insight, and compassionate leadership. He requested sustained prayer support for the Wengams and national church leadership.
Eastern Region B
At the Akim Oda Central Assemblies of God, in Eastern Region ‘B' Rev. Wengam led the gathering in four hours of intense prayer and deep biblical teaching. Preaching from Matthew 21:13, he passionately emphasised that prayer is the heartbeat of the church.
This visit — the third in Rev. Wengam’s nationwide Apostolic Tour across all 24 administrative regions of the church — reflects a leadership vision that places high value on grassroots engagement, spiritual renewal, and pastoral care. Ministers from across the region, including active pastors and their spouses, retired ministers, and widows of pastors, converged in one accord to receive both inspiration and impartation.
The Regional Superintendent for Eastern Region ‘B', Rev. Obed Asiedu, in his warm welcome, expressed the joy and gratitude of the entire region for the historic visit. He lauded the First Couple for their tireless commitment to spiritual transformation and their personal effort in connecting with ministers in every region of the country.
