The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Stephen Wengam and his wife Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam, have completed a series of transformative apostolic visits to three key regions of the church. They are Greater Accra East, Ashanti East, and Brong Ahafo Region 'A'.
During his ministry visit to the Greater Accra East, Rev. Wengam offered a solemn reminder of the Church's critical need to recentre its operations around the Holy Spirit.
Cedar Mountain Chapel
In a powerful exhortation at the Cedar Mountain Chapel in East Legon, he stated that believers are living in times where the Holy Spirit has been left out of their dealings which was why revival seems distant and the church appears powerless.
He urged Assemblies of God community nationwide to rekindle the fire of the Holy Spirit in all their activities emphasising that as the church approaches its 100-year milestone in six years leaders and members alike should engage in fervent intercession not only for revival, but for the strategic guidance and wisdom necessary to realign the church’s vision and expand its soul-winning agenda.
Special prayers
Special prayers were led for four core areas of reformation including Administrative Spiritual, Structural and Constitutional Reforms.
The visit also featured the renewal of marriage vows for couples present. In her generous spirit, Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam, National President of the Ministers’ Wives Association, donated cloths and cash gifts to support ministers and their families.
Ashanti East
In Kumasi, at Living Waters Assemblies of God, in Ashanti East, the apostolic mission continued with a resounding impact.
Over 600 pastors, retired ministers, and their spouses, along with widows of deceased ministers, gathered in unity for an intense four-hour prayer session, led by Rev. Wengam.
The prayer focused on Repentance and Rededication, Intercession, Petition and Spiritual Warfare.
In his sermon titled, “How to Transform Your Church into a Prayer Hub”, Rev. Wengam, based on Matthew 21:12–15, lamented the prayerlessness that has stunted church growth and spiritual power.
He urged ministers to prioritise teaching and modeling prayer, making their local churches places of continuous intercession and revival.
Another touching moment was the renewal of marital vows, which brought many couples to tears and joy, reaffirming their covenant before God.
Lady Mrs. Monica Wengam once again honoured retirees, widows, and pastors’ wives with cash gifts and beautiful cloths.
In an unprecedented act of appreciation, the Ashanti East Regional Superintendent, Rev. Emmanuel Gyasi, and his wife, presented the first couple of the Church with Kente cloth and sandals, symbolising their love and respect for the apostolic leadership.
Brong Ahafo Region A
The Apostolic trail led to Glad Tidings Assemblies of God, Sunyani, where the Brong Ahafo Region 'A' hosted the revered leaders. Again, the atmosphere was charged with the Spirit as the gathering was enveloped in nearly four continous hours of prayer for revival, spiritual warfare, and the exponential growth of the church.
Preaching on the topic “How to Make Your Church an Altar of Prayer”, Rev. Wengam exposed the dangers of neglecting prayer and challenged pastors to make prayer the heartbeat of church life.
Couples present were again given the opportunity to renew their marriage vows, breathing life and gratitude into long-standing unions.
In a heartfelt expression of love, Lady Mrs. Wengam gave gifts to retired ministers, widows, and wives of serving pastors, continuing her ministry of support to those who have laboured in the vineyard.
The Regional Superintendent, Rev. Dr. Francis Agyekum, led a moment of deep gratitude, presenting a ram to the General Superintendent and his wife.
