Assemblies of God, Ghana – The Great Commission House in Nsawam Central, has held a spirit-filled Special Palm Sunday Service to mark the triumphant entry of Jesus Christ into Jerusalem. The event, which took place at the church auditorium, was under the theme: “The Road to Redemption Begins Here” based on Matthew 21:1–11.
Procession
Earlier, the host pastor and Regional Superintendent, Rev. Obed Asiedu led the children of the church in a vibrant procession through some principal streets of Nsawam. Singing joyful songs and waving palm branches, the children re-enacted the triumphant entry of Jesus into Jerusalem, drawing attention from members of the community and setting the tone for the day’s celebration.
Main service
During the main service, Rev. Asiedu delivered a powerful sermon centred on the redemptive mission of Christ. He emphasised the significance of Palm Sunday as a divine moment in history when Jesus, though hailed as King, chose the path of humility and sacrifice to bring salvation to humanity.
The congregation, clad in white and green and waving palm branches, actively participated in the celebration with joyful singing, prayers, and scripture readings. The atmosphere was one of deep spiritual reflection and praise as the church commemorated the beginning of Holy Week.
In a remarkable moment during the service, several members of the congregation re-dedicated their lives to Jesus Christ and were prayed for by the pastor. This heartfelt response to the message underscored the impact of the Word and the move of the Holy Spirit throughout the gathering.
Highlights of the service included inspiring choral renditions, a dramatic re-enactment of Jesus’ entry into Jerusalem, and special prayers for the church, the nation, and the global body of Christ.
Members expressed their joy and gratitude for the opportunity to celebrate such a meaningful event in the Christian faith. Many described the service as uplifting and timely, especially as it reminded believers of the hope and redemption found in Christ.
The Nsawam Central Palm Sunday celebration has once again affirmed the church’s commitment to spiritual growth, Biblical teaching, and community fellowship.
