The First Sky Group, a business conglomerate is pushing for the establishment of a legislative framework to support organ harvestation in the country.
This has become necessary because the legislation will facilitate kidney transplants and save lives.
The Founder and Executive Chairman of the Group, Eric Seddy Kutortse, who stated this at the 22nd Thanksgiving Service of the Group on Sunday, January 19, 2025 further drew the attention of the President to steps being taken towards legislation that requires a directive in passing into law the appropriate legal regime for Kidney Replacement Therapy (KRT). The event was under the theme, “Proclaiming God's unfailing love" rooted in Romans 8:37.
Free dialysis
Touching on the company’s free Dialysis and kidney transplant programme at the Korle Bu Teaching Hospital, Mr Kutortse said since 2016, the First Sky Group had spent more than GH¢36million and sponsored kidney transplant surgeries for many patients.
He revealed that by the end of January this year, four patients will undergo kidney transplant surgery to be carried out by local experts in Ghana with the support of Indian Specialists. This he said will be fully funded by the First Sky Group. He said the company was also pushing for legislation to support organ harvesting in the country.
Mr Kutortse observed that the company believed that “once you put your faith and trust in God's hand you will find His hands in everything that you do.”
This he explained has enabled the company to overcome challenges over the years including leadership based on integrity, corporate governance among others.
Mr Kutortse revealed that for the past five years as part of the company’s support to the service of God it has constructed over 72 church buildings across the country and assisted the completion of 13 others.
“Last year, as part of our rural evangelism drive, targetted at supporting churches which held their services under trees, we embarked on the construction of another 50 churches in the Greater Accra Region with another 50 mission houses under construction for pastors” he added.
The executive chairman said the sod cutting ceremony for the projects was held in July 2024 by the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana adding that the projects will be completed by June this year, barring any hitches.
He further announced that the company intends to embark on the completion of stalled church projects of different denominations across the country as led by the Holy Spirit.
Guest Speaker
The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam, who was the Guest Speaker for the event, reminded Christians that their successes in life are solely due to God's unconditional love.
He urged believers to acknowledge that their achievements are not a result of their intelligence, diligence, or wisdom, but rather a manifestation of God's exclusive love.
God's love
Reverend Wengam emphasised that the success of believers is not contingent upon their own efforts, but rather a direct result of God's love. "We conquer because He loves us," he stressed, adding that "God's love is the only reason why we succeed. We prevail because of His unconditional and faithful love."
The General Superintendent cautioned believers against attributing their successes to their own abilities or pedigree. Instead, he encouraged them to recognise and acknowledge the role of God's love in their achievements. By doing so, believers can cultivate a deeper sense of humility, gratitude, and dependence on God's love and guidance.
“Never credit your conquests to your pedigree or your wisdom or your stature or your intelligence. We conquer because he loves us. God's love is the only reason why we succeed and prevail. It's love that is unconditional and faithful” Reverend Wengam further observed.
Thematic areas
Speaking on the topic, “The power of God's unfailing love”, Reverend Wengam touched on three thematic areas of God's love-the character of God's love, the conditions to fulfill to experience God's abundant and priceless love and the conquests of God's love.
He made references to Romans 8:31-38; John 3:16 and 1 John 4:19 among other scriptures in the Holy Bible, urging believers to remember that God first loved human beings and expects them to reciprocate that gesture.
“Sometimes, in our bid to balance things, we tend to sample everything we see. It's our human efforts. It's our intellect. It's our exposure. It's our connection. It's our stature. No. It's God's love” he said.
“We are successful not because we are smart, not because we are diligent, but because of the exclusive love of God” he further stated.
The General Superintendent pointed out that God's love is authentic, infinite meaning immeasurable, incomprehensible while man's love is discriminatory and strays away.
Reckless love
Reverend Wengam said he loved the lyrics of the Song Writer who says God loves recklessly.
“God has to feed 8 billion people. Including all the birds, all the donkeys, all the animals in the sea, all the trees. Every living creation. Every morning, creation looks up to God. And God has been feeding creation since the beginning. And God's resources are inexhaustible” the General Superintendent indicated.
