Grace Overflow Chapel of Assemblies of God, Ghana in Nalerigu in the Northeast Region, joyfully marked its first anniversary last Saturday with a vibrant celebration of thanksgiving, worship, and reflections on its journey over the past year.
Congregants, church leaders, and invited guests gathered to commemorate the milestone, acknowledging the chapel’s growth and impact in the community.
The event was on the theme, “Grace upon Grace" based on John 1:16(ESV).
Sermon
Delivering a sermon, Rev. Aaron Lambon Fant, Lead Pastor of the Sanctuary of Wind and Fire Assemblies of God – Tamale, urged members not to be selective in soul-winning by focusing only on those in privileged positions.
He emphasised that souls are everywhere, among beggars, the physically challenged, students, and schoolchildren. He called on the church to have a vision of spreading the light to everyone.
“Until our vision is corrected, our ministry will be corrupted” he stated. He further encouraged the congregation to envision their church as a place where nations gather for worship, the afflicted receive healing, and lives are transformed by God’s word.
Appreciation
In his appreciation speech, Pastor Chris Laar-Mong, expressed deep gratitude to the General Superintendent, Rev. Stephen Wengam, for his visionary leadership that led to the establishment of Grace Overflow Chapel under the ‘SEND THE LIGHT’ agenda.
He also acknowledged the prayers, counsel, and direction of the Northeast Regional Superintendent, Rev. Baba Issifu Alhassan, and his dedicated team of men and women of God who have contributed to the church’s vision.
“To our hardworking district pastor, Rev. Isaac Achiri, our guest speakers, my spiritual father Rev. Aaron Fant, and my brother Prophet David Rauf, we say, may God richly bless you for standing with us in diverse ways to make this dream happen. You are simply amazing,” Pastor Laar-Mong said.
Goodwill Messages
AGTV, where Pastor Laar-Mong previously served as Marketing Manager before founding Grace Overflow Chapel, sent a heartfelt message acknowledging his dedication and faith in establishing the church.
They commended the church’s evangelism efforts, including school outreach, weekly fasting and prayer programs, and transformative teachings that are shaping its members.
The Greater Accra East Regional Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Greater Accra East, Rev. Andrews Nelson Awintia, also extended his congratulations, praying for God’s continued guidance and empowerment for the church.
He encouraged members to maintain their passion for evangelism and represent Christ well, reminding them that their labour in the Lord would not be in vain.
Celebration
The celebration also featured presentations to some members and a symbolic cake-cutting ceremony, marking the occasion with joy and gratitude.
