President Nana Addo Dankwa Akufo-Addo has delivered his final New Year message as Ghana’s leader, reflecting on his tenure, celebrating Ghana’s achievements, and urging the nation to embrace the promise of 2025 with hope and unity.

Addressing Ghanaians on the eve of the new year, President Akufo-Addo expressed heartfelt gratitude for the privilege of serving as President, describing it as “the greatest honour of my life.” He thanked Ghanaians for their trust and resilience, saying, “Together, we have walked a journey of transformation, and it is a journey I will always cherish.”

Key Achievements

The President highlighted key achievements during his administration, including the transformative Free Senior High School Policy, improvements in healthcare, infrastructure expansion, revitalisation of agriculture, and advancements in digitalisation. He noted that these accomplishments had tangible impacts on the lives of Ghanaians, stating, “These achievements are not just numbers or statistics. They are stories of lives changed and futures made brighter.”

Acknowledging the challenges faced during his tenure, especially the difficulties brought by the post-COVID-19 years, President Akufo-Addo commended the resilience of Ghanaians. “The road has not always been smooth, and there have been times of difficulty and sacrifice. Yet through it all, the indomitable Ghanaian spirit has prevailed,” he said.

Future

Looking ahead, the President urged Ghanaians to hold on to hope, embrace new dreams, and remain committed to nation-building. He encouraged the youth, describing them as the “heartbeat of our future,” to “dream big, work hard, and know that the future is yours to shape.”

Reflecting on Ghana’s democratic journey, President Akufo-Addo commended the nation for conducting peaceful elections, which reaffirmed Ghana’s status as a beacon of democracy. He congratulated President-elect John Dramani Mahama and newly elected Members of Parliament, urging all leaders to uphold peace and democracy. “The pursuit of power should never be synonymous with violence. It must always reflect a solemn commitment to serve the people,” he emphasised.

As he prepares to leave office, President Akufo-Addo expressed optimism about Ghana’s future, stating, “Ghana is destined for greatness, and I believe in the strength of her people to achieve it.” He assured Ghanaians that the foundation built over the last eight years would serve as a springboard for continued growth and development.

Concluding his address, he wished Ghanaians a joyful and prosperous 2025, saying, “May our homes be filled with laughter, our communities with unity, and our nation with prosperity. Let us step into the new year with hope in our hearts and determination in our steps.”
