Assemblies of God, Ghana kicked off the festive season with two separate Christmas carol services held last Friday at Ringway and Bubuashie to mark the Birth of Jesus Christ.
The services brought together congregants to reflect on the significance of the birth of Jesus Christ.
Worship, sermon
At the Assemblies of God Headquarters at Ringway, over 50 congregants gathered in the beautifully decorated auditorium, where the choir commenced the service with a powerful rendition of “Hark! The Herald Angels Sing” alongside other favourite Christmas songs.
The General Secretary of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Reverend Dr. Ernest Birinkorang, delivered an inspiring exhortation, reminding attendees of the significance of Christmas.
“This season reminds us of God’s greatest gift to mankind, His Son. As we sing and celebrate tonight, let us also remember to reflect His light in our lives,” he stated.
Rev. Birinkorang, emphasised the importance of showing love and understanding God's word, urging believers to live by divine guidance.
“Every child of God should be curious about what God says in His word. We must follow divine guidance, worship and surrender our all to God, and share His word while persevering as Christ did for us,” he added.
Generosity
The Head of Operations for Assemblies of God, Ghana, Rev. Dr. Freeman Osei-Tete, appealed to public-spirited individuals and organisations to support AGTV’s Christmas Party on the Street initiative.
He called on Non-Governmental Organisations, community groups, and individuals to donate money, food, clothing, and other essential items to support beneficiaries of the initiative.
“Christmas is a time of giving, and it is essential to remember those who are less fortunate. Let us take steps to include them in the joy and warmth of the festivities,” he said.
Emmanuel Assemblies of God
The soul-stirring performance by the choir at Emmanuel Assemblies of God, Bubuashie, featuring “O come all ye Faithful” and other traditional carols, reverberated joyfully through the neighbourhood.
The highlight of the evening was a sermon by Rev. Patrick Owusu, the Head Pastor of Emmanuel Assemblies of God. He reflected on the challenges of life and how the Birth of Christ symbolises hope, peace, and joy.
“In a world filled with challenges, the Birth of Christ reminds us of hope, peace, and joy. Let us share his love with those around us, especially during this season,” he urged the congregation.
Frankatson Limited
The Christmas carol service at Emmanuel Assemblies of God was a collaboration between the church and Frankatson Limited, a leading West African agribusiness company.
The company is known for its expertise in the distribution of veterinary drugs, livestock rearing tools, agrochemicals, and farming equipment.
The collaboration was inspired by the late Dr. Francis Boakye, Founder of Frankatson Limited, who was also a devoted member of Assemblies of God.
The Warehouse Manager of Frankatson Limited, Mr. Emmanuel Abeka in an interview, expressed the company’s joy in supporting the church’s initiative.
"We are privileged to collaborate with Emmanuel Assemblies of God for the carol service. We usually support community projects, and we have a good relationship with the church," he noted.
Mr. Abeka highlighted the importance of prayer in their business operations, emphasising the need to thank God for his mercies and help throughout the year.
“We need more prayers to continue with our produce and to sustain us in the coming year,” he added.
