Cedar Mountain Chapel of Assemblies of God in East Legon has hosted a heartfelt thanksgiving service following the successful burial of the late Madam Deborah Wengam.
The solemn yet uplifting event celebrated the life and legacy of Madam Wengam, the beloved mother of Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam, the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana.
Service
The service brought together family members, church leaders, congregants, delegations from foreign missions of Assemblies of God, retired ministers, National Directors and well-wishers from various parts of the country. They all joined in to express gratitude to God for a life well-lived and a befitting farewell. The service also included prayers, hymns of thanksgiving, ministrations from renowned artists and choir and heartfelt worship.
Sermon
The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, South Africa, Rev. Dr. Godwin Lebelo, delivered a powerful sermon rooted in Hebrews 12:1-14.
Rev. Dr Lebelo who was the guest speaker urged the congregants to reflect on their spiritual journey and commit to running and finishing their race in faith, stating that “If you want to finish the race, you cannot conform to the things of the world. Instead, set the pace, correct your mistakes, and run the race with perseverance.”
“As we give thanks today, we must remember that anger and other distractions can hinder us from finishing the race,” Rev.Dr Lebelo emphasised.
Appreciation
The General Superintendent of Assemblies of God,Ghana thanked the church and well-wishers for their overwhelming support during the family’s time of grief.
He highlighted the importance of unity and faith in overcoming life’s challenges, reminding everyone to lead lives that honour God, just as his late mother did.
Rev. Wengam acknowledged the overwhelming love shown by the Cedar Mountain Chapel family and the Assemblies of God community at large, which made the funeral a dignified celebration of his mother’s legacy.
