A high-powered delegation made up of the General Council of Assemblies of God, Ghana, the Nyankpen and Wengam families as well as leadership of the Cedar Mountain Chapel has paid a courtesy call on President John Dramani Mahama.
The delegation informed the President of the passing of Madam Deborah Wengam, biological mother of the General Superintendent of Assemblies of God, Ghana, Reverend Stephen Wengam.
Led by Rev Dr Godwin Tito Agyei, the Assistant General Superintendent, of Assemblies of God, the delegation extended an invitation to the President to attend the funeral service, scheduled for Saturday, 25th January 2025, at 8am, at the Forecourt of the State House in Accra.
Tribute
Rev Dr Agyei eulogised Madam Wengam, highlighting her 71-year membership with the church. He commended her for raising a visionary leader and noted that the funeral would attract dignitaries from various walks of life, including a large international delegation.
The Assistant General Superintendent also thanked the President for his earlier visit to commiserate with the bereaved family upon the demise of Madam Deborah Wengam.
President Mahama on his part commended Reverend Wengam's late mother for serving her generation well by producing a prominent leader for the church and the entire society as a whole.
President Mahama consoled the General Superintendent and the bereaved family and prayed that the soul of Madam Deborah Wengam will rest in peace.

In a related development, the Vice Chancellor of Oheneba Dunyo University College of Counseling and Psychology in Accra, Dr. Oheneba Dunyo, has led a delegation to express condolences to Rev. Stephen Wengam, following the passing of his mother, Madam Deborah Wengam.
Leadership groups
Similarly, Assemblies of God leadership groups and a delegation of retired ministers from the Volta South Assemblies of God, led by Rev. Dela Tayviah have visited Rev. Wengam to offer their support during this time of grief.
During the visit, the retired ministers offered prayers of comfort and encouragement to Rev. Wengam and his family, acknowledging the pivotal role his late mother played in shaping his spiritual and personal journey.
The leadership of the Youth Ministry in the Accra West Region, led by the Regional Youth Director, Rev. Nana Kumi Manu, also visited Rev. Wengam to commiserate with him over the loss of his mother.
The Assemblies of God Education Board headed by the Executive Director, Rev. Dr. Daniel Ayembilla, on their part extended sympathies and stood in solidarity with Rev. Wengam during their visit.
The National Executive of Women Ministries represented by the Executive of the Joy Fellowship also visited Rev. Wengam to express their heartfelt condolences.
