Assemblies of God (AG), Ghana has announced key prayer events to set a powerful tone for 2025 with an emphasis on deepening prayer activities across its congregations.
The General Superintendent of the church, Reverend Stephen Yenusom Wengam, made the announcement during a two-day capacity-building and prayer retreat for Executive Presbytery (EP) and key AG leaders at the Kwame Nkrumah University of Science and Technology (KNUST) in Kumasi on Thursday, November 14, 2024.
He laid out a comprehensive plan of prayer initiatives and underscored his commitment to revitalising prayer life in AG churches throughout the nation.
Key prayer activities
The key activities planned for the year are:
National Week of Fasting and Prayer: Churches nationwide will engage in a week-long period dedicated to fasting and prayer, promoting spiritual renewal and focus.
National All-Night Prayer Service: This will be a large scale prayer event, drawing participants from various regions to join in a night of worship, supplication, and intercession.
Continuous Prayer Chain: A coordinated prayer chain will ensure that prayers are offered around the clock, signifying unity and continuity in intercession.
12-Hour Prayer Broadcast on AGTV: AGTV will host a 12-hour live prayer broadcast, allowing members from all over the country to participate in a unified prayer session via television.
EP Officers’ 3-Day Retreat: All EP officers will attend a three-day retreat focused on prayer and spiritual preparation for the year.
Leadership Meeting: Another meeting for key AG leaders is scheduled for next year to further strengthen the prayer agenda and to build on insights from previous gatherings, particularly from the "Send the Light" initiative.
Mid-Year National Week of Prayer: In the middle of the year, AG will hold another week dedicated solely to prayer, reinforcing the commitment to this year-long focus.
Departmental Prayer Sessions: Different AG departments will hold dedicated prayer meetings to support their ministry's specific needs and goals.
One-Month Nationwide Prayer Chain: During this designated month, AG churches across the nation will participate in continuous daily prayers, encouraging fervent participation from all congregations.
Apostolic Visits Emphasisng Prayer: Apostolic leaders will make visits to churches nationwide, with a strong focus on prayer and spiritual guidance.
National Service Recruitment for Prayer: Individuals undertaking national service will be employed specifically to focus on prayer efforts, underscoring the organisation’s commitment to sustained intercession.
Collaboration with Bible Schools: AG will collaborate with Bible schools to incorporate prayer more deeply into theological training, preparing future leaders who are grounded in prayer.
