In a remarkable display of kindness and community spirit, the Young Singles Group of Assemblies of God, Ghana in the Greater Accra East Region donated essential items to the Adjei-Kojo State School for the Deaf on Saturday, November 16,2024.
This initiative was part of their "Kindness Evangelism" campaign aimed at spreading love and hope through acts of service.
The donation commenced at Calvary Assemblies of God in Adjei-Kojo, where members marched through the town, distributing gospel tracts to people. Their outreach efforts included visits to local homes and shops, sharing the message of Jesus’s love to residents.
Items, motivation
Among the items donated were exercise books, bags of beans, gari, rice, toothpaste, and other basic necessities.
Sharing with participants the motivation behind the donation, the Greater Accra East Regional Organiser of the Young Singles, Rev. Mrs. Florence Boatemaa Semenyo said “Our aim is to show these children love and to share the message of salvation with them.”
The Regional Director for Greater Accra East Young Singles , Rev. Mrs. Georgina Abotsi, called on the community to engage with individuals with disabilities, stating, “We are all one and created in God's image.”
She underscored the importance of inclusivity in evangelism and community support.
The Headmaster of the Adjei-Kojo State School for the Deaf, Mr. Isaac Arthur, urged parents of children with disabilities to enrol their children in school as early as possible, noting that the school is state-funded and tuition-free.
He emphasised the need for ministers of the gospel to learn sign language to effectively reach and teach children with disabilities, stating, "A strong foundation matters."
Mr. Arthur also appealed to ministers and churches to partner with the school in sharing the gospel, highlighting the impact that such collaborations can have on the lives of the children.
